Asus Prime on 4.0.3 ICS

One thing I like so far is they updated when they said they would, actually they did it early! Got my Asus Transformer Prime yesterday, with the dock, and as soon as I got past the Welcome screens, it did a few updates and I am now on Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) 4.0.3. I can’t remember updates for my Android phones being available early with Verizon!

So, I used this year’s birthday and Christmas money to order me an Asus Transformer Prime. I should be getting it soon. I’ve been wanting an Android tablet for a while and I think this is supposed to be the most sought after Android tablet to hit the market in a while. I’ve had a couple of the original iPads for a long time but didn’t like some of the limitations. I guess I’ll get to compare soon enough! This is supposed to be the first Ice Cream Sandwich Android tablet also. I hope this ICS quad core tablet lives up to the hype!

Router Firmware Mods

I’ve really wanted to try a non-facotry firmware on my home routers for a few years now but never found the time or always chickened out. I’ve looked into DD-Wrt, OpenWrt, and Tomato. Have you tried any of these and if so, which did you choose and why? I have a Netgear WNDR3700 and tried OpenWrt this weekend. but gave up after wireless problems and reverted back to the factory firmware.

Wondershare LiveBoot 2012

I’ve used a few recovery boot CDs lately with some problem machines and had downloaded this one a while ago but never used it. I can’t say it fixed all my problems but I found the interface pretty slick and was even able to plug in a USB drive and notice it after my machine was booted to the CD, not all will do this. I happened to download this when they had a free download period after it first came out. It’s called Wondershare LiveBoot 2012. Good reason to be able to uninstall the crap installed by AT&T, Verizon and so on. I’ve considered rooting my phone for months but always chicken out since I can’t afford to screw it up! Have you rooted your phone and if so, how did you do it and were there any problems?
