Chrome update not working

January 21st, 2014 Comments off

I kept getting an error the other day when I tried to update Google Chrome. The error was ‘Updates have been disabled by the administrator’. Here is a quick fix.

Using Regedit, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Update
In the right-pane side double click on the UpdateDefault and change this value 0 to 1.
Restart Chrome

That was all it took!

Google Wallet

August 1st, 2012 Comments off

Well, I do tend to be a Google fan from time to time but I’m not sure what I think about this for now. I’m not too sure if Google, wallet, credit cards, and cloud should be all in the same sentence! What do you think? Are you ready to pay for things with your cell phone? I know it’s coming and inevitable but I’m not too sure the ‘Cloud’ is ready for credit card transactions. Read more about the direciton Google Wallet is going in their recent blog post. Check it out here.

Future Chrome version may choose your passwords

February 21st, 2012 Comments off

I’ve been using LastPass for a while now and it does make it a lot easier to have different passwords everywhere and also passwords that you could never remember yourself. Would something like this replace other tools like LastPass or 1Password? Would people trust Google enough to use something like this or would it be looked at just like browsers saving passwords like they already do? Check out this article on Arstechnica for more info.

Future Chrome version may choose your passwords, and change them when youve been hacked.

If you ever wonder much about Android and it’s relation to Linux and GNU or how Google has it licensed, this is a pretty good article that I’m sure knows a lot about the subject.

Do you care if Google knows your wireless router’s MAC address. I guess some folks do and you may be able to purge it from their databases sometime this fall.

Google Settles to End Investigation

August 29th, 2011 Comments off

I guess they forgot about the little ‘Do no Evil’ thing! Interesting little part here, “That’s right. The DOJ has actually colluded with Google to protect Larry Page’s reputation.”

Google Page Speed Service

July 29th, 2011 Comments off

Check out a new service is offering. Google Page Speed Service

Sounded pretty cool until I got the part about “fetches content from your servers, rewrites your pages… and serves them to end users via Google’s servers”. How should we feel about that?!

Taskos

May 31st, 2011 Comments off

Now that I’m completely used to using Gmail and Google Calendar I wanted a good way to see my Google Tasks on my phone. I read something about Google just opening the API or just opening it to Android developers. Not too sure but the article said there should be more apps out soon to bring your Google tasks to your Android phone. I found one last week that does just fine. It’s called Taskos and it seems to run fine on my Thunderbolt.
