Security Problems with Pre-Installed Android Apps

December 5th, 2011 No comments

Good reason to be able to uninstall the crap installed by AT&T, Verizon and so on. I’ve considered rooting my phone for months but always chicken out since I can’t afford to screw it up! Have you rooted your phone and if so, how did you do it and were there any problems?

What’s this going to do for the Thunderbolt world?! I’m still liking my HTC Thunderbolt even though I’ve heard a lot of bad stuff about it. No real complaints, better battery life lately and 4G in my area now too!

Anonymous sends Marine a Get Well Video

October 29th, 2011 No comments

So after busting a child porn ring, Anonymous sends an injured Marine a ‘get well’ video. What do you really think about Anonymous? Are they good guys or bad guys? I still suppose it could be argues both ways but they are very interesting to follow regardless.

HTC Rhyme Review | Android Community

October 17th, 2011 No comments

Well, it may not be 4G or dual core but my wife loves this new phone. The accessories and the fact that it came in something that looked like a fancy looking makeup box just did it for her! Honestly not being 4G or dual core may be why the battery last so long and I can’t see why she needs either anyway.

Verizon HTC Rhyme

After she washed the HTC Incredible, the HTC Rhyme seemed like a nice replacement. I have to say it’s a nice phone and it comes with some nice accessories. I learned one thing pretty quick about the HTC Rhyme, there isn’t a removable battery!

CISSP value vs. security industry growth

September 23rd, 2011 No comments

How many CISSPs are needed or is it just more money for ISC2? I agree with some of what McKeay is saying and it makes me start thinkng of the ISSA. We had a chapter here in the Shreveport/Bossier area for a few years and never got much or any support from ISSA and it was more like $100 for yearly dues. That was the main complaint I heard from everyone in the chapter or from folks that wanted to join. “That sure is a lot of money for not getting anything from ISSA. Can’t we just meet and have meetings without being called a chapter of the ISSA?” I believe the CISSP numbers have went from 35,000 in 2005 to more than 75,000 in 2011. I don’t know what the answer is but I can’t say that I get much out of ISC2 but a new certification letter every three years now, but I’m not letting it go!

Launching Google Wallet

September 20th, 2011 No comments

What do you think about Google Wallet and how long before it will be more main stream? I’m all about some geeky gadgets and cool technology but I still get pissed off getting behind folks in the store that can’t use their debit card, food stamp card, or WIC card! I guess this will mainly be the younger folks and maybe I won’t have to show my father-in-law how to use it!

Will this make privacy and ID theft more of an issue and are you gonna use it?

If you ever wonder much about Android and it’s relation to Linux and GNU or how Google has it licensed, this is a pretty good article that I’m sure knows a lot about the subject.
