Elevated Command Prompt

August 8th, 2010

I recently found out that my external drive was running FAT32 instead of NTFS when I tried to backup a virtual machine.  Not good for copying large files.  You can convert from FAT to NTFS but not the other day around.  First off you have to run this command in an elevated command prompt window.  Here is how to run commands on an elevated privilege command prompt.  More on converting the file system of the drive next.

1. Open the Start Menu.

2. Click on All Programs and Accessories, then right click on Command Prompt and click on Run as administrator.
