Swapping to OpenOffice

If you had a client that has been using Wordperfect for years and thought it was time to finally find something else, would there be any reason that you can think of to have Microsoft Office instead of OpenOffice if they had never really used either?  (as long as there is nothing elaborate related to macros or anything, it’s just a small office that would use Word and Excel very casually) I can’t think of any reason to spend the money on Microsoft Office if they had never used either.

I also like Google apps but I still don’t know what to think about certain types of information sitting in the cloud like if the business deals with sensitive information like a law office or something related to medical issues.

    Thanks for the input.
